Åbning af terminal på en Mac:

Dobbetklikke på ikonet Macintosh HD, så kommer du ind i oversigten over mac'ens harddisk. Åbn mappen Programmer og her mappen Hjælpeprogrammer (Utilities). Klik på ikonen Termina - et nyt vindue med en kommandoline åbnes.

Terminal app (Applications/Utilities). - eller SHIFT - Kløver - U

"all versions of Mac OS X. It is located in the Utilities folder within the Applications folder."

Hvis der ikke er en kommandopromt af typen .. <dit navn> $ skal den kaldes frem gennem:

Commands to work via Shell -> New Command

_ er programmet optaget af andre opgaver: ctrl-c to cancel any tasks running in the terminal


Computernavn: ~ Peter$ tilde tegnet viser, at man er i "Home" directory

[Computer-Name:Current-Directory] username$

Reset the current directory to your home folder (the default): cd
Set the current directory to the Applications folder: cd /Applications

pwd is a Terminal command which prints the full path of the current directory from the root directory.
It does this using Unix delimiters (/) between folders.

pwd stands for "present working directory", and will likely output "/Users/(yourusername)"

You can get a list of all the documents in this directory with the ls (list) command

Drag and drop:

To save time typing out a long path, you can drag an icon from Finder to a Terminal window,
and the whole path will be filled in for you. For example, if you wanted to set the current directory to ~/Library/Preferences/, you could type in (with a trailing space):

On Macintosh OS X, you can use the operating system’s character palette to find special characters. Press command+option+T to make the character palette window appear.

Choose Edit > Special Characters to open the Characters window (or choose Characters from the Action pop-up menu in the lower-left corner of the Fonts window).

Choose the type of characters you want to see from the View pop-up menu at the top of the Characters window. If you don’t see the View menu, click the button in the upper-right corner of the window to show the top portion of the window. Click this button again to hide the top portion of the window.

Click an item in the list on the left to see the characters that are available in each category.

Double-click the character or symbol on the right that you want to insert into your document, or select the character and click Insert.
